The Legnica police reported the incident:
Preliminary findings indicate that the driver of a Volvo, travelling from Legnica towards Koskowice, began overtaking a VW Golf travelling ahead of him on a bend in the road. During the overtaking manoeuvre, he noticed a vehicle approaching from the opposite direction and tried to return to his lane. He then hit the Golf, left the road, struck a tree and rolled over.
It turned out that the driver was subject to a court-imposed driving ban, and a breathalyser test showed more than one per mille of alcohol. His passenger was also intoxicated.
Both men, suffering injuries, were taken to hospital. The road towards Koskowice is impassable; police officers and other services are working at the scene.
