During a gala in Bolesławiec, alongside the traditional distinctions awarded by the Lower Silesian Education Superintendent, the County Board and school principals, an award in the #BestTeacher competition was presented for the first time – an initiative launched by the students themselves.
This exceptional title was awarded to Piotr Rydz, a physical education teacher at I LO, who – as the students emphasized – goes beyond the school walls and the lesson plan. Always present, kind and ready to talk, he can bring generations together, understand young people and speak to them in their language – with the wisdom and calm that provide support.
“When stress appears, he reaches for his guitar and reminds us that in life, just as in music, the most beautiful moments are those of harmony and a shared rhythm,” read the competition committee’s justification.
The #BestTeacher 2025 award therefore went to an educator who is more than a teacher to his students – a companion on their journey, the school’s good spirit and a person who reminds them every day that it is worth believing in themselves, developing their talents and never giving up on their dreams.
The gala concluded with words full of gratitude: “With all our hearts, we thank you for every day, for the support that gives us strength, for listening when someone needs to be heard, and for the laughter that makes school a place we want to return to,” said Katarzyna Zięba, head of the Education, Culture and Sport Department of the County Office.
