Unreliable agents charge a fee, promising to arrange all the formalities connected with travel and accommodation. However, the “organization” often ends with paying for the trip itself. Upon arrival, it turns out that nothing has been prepared. The person who has been deceived is left to look for work and accommodation independently. It often happens that those leaving do not know a foreign language and have no money either to pay for their stay or, worse still, to return to their country.
Consulates help victims
Many people harmed by unreliable agents report to Consulates. They ask for help returning to their country. A Consulate can provide such assistance only after the victim’s family has paid the necessary amount to cover the cost of the return.
Offers must be checked carefully
The Ministry recommends that before deciding to leave, people carefully familiarize themselves with the conditions and opportunities for employment, as well as the qualifications required of candidates, including foreign-language proficiency. It is also advisable to have enough money to ensure a safe return to the country and to purchase additional insurance in case medical treatment or the urgent transportation of a sick person becomes necessary.
