The first of this year’s Bolesławiec mountain biking races is now behind us. In the most spectacular category this time, the masters, veterans of off-road courses triumphed in the Bolesławiec competition: Łukasz Ryż and Rafał Iwan (Bikestacja.pl club), ahead of Czech competitor Petr Cinkan from Liberec’s Spinfits.
In the youngest, żak category, Czech competitor Robin Kolakovsky (Sport Base Timing) won ahead of Jakub Bielinski (MKS Karolina Jaworzyna Śląska), while among the girls Sara Tonder finished ahead of her clubmate Kamila Pastuszek. The młodzik category was dominated by competitors from UKK Oriens Chojnów, who took the entire podium: 1st Kamil Jednaszczyk, 2nd Jan Konaszewski, 3rd Karol Rokus.
In the junior młodszy category, Bartosz Nawojczyk won ahead of Bartek Zyga – both representing Cyklosport Bolesławiec. In the juniorka category, Bolesławiec competitor Weronika Kuczyńska, representing G.K. Cyklosport Bolesławiec, also took first place.
The men’s elite race was a sporting battle between two local clubs. Marcin Strąg (G.K. Cyklosport Bolesławiec) won, ahead of Dariusz Nenkin (Bikestacja) and Mateusz Fuchs (G.K. Cyklosport Bolesławiec).
The mountain bikers’ competition was accompanied by an excellent sporting atmosphere and perfect sunny weather. The next races as part of the Euroregion Cycling Cup for children and young people will take place in Bolesławiec on Saturday, 4 June.
The Cyklosport cyclists have organised their races two or three times a year for 10 years in the forest park near Piastów Street. Several days before each competition, club members clean up the area, sometimes removing as many as thirty 50-litre bags of rubbish left by people who enjoy outdoor feasting. As the organisers observe, the amount of waste is increasing year by year.
