Saturday’s match was a rather average, and at times even boring, spectacle. The first half began with the visitors having the upper hand. In the 11th minute, the Świdnica team created a dangerous opportunity in front of Przykłota’s goal. The hosts responded in the 14th minute with an attack by Pietkiewicz, who, despite being in a difficult position, shot straight into the hands of the visiting goalkeeper. The following minutes were dictated by the visitors, but they were unable to finish the chances they created. As a result, the BKS goalkeeper did not have too much work during the first 30 minutes.
In the closing stages of the first half, the Bolesławiec team failed to take advantage of several good opportunities. In the 40th minute, Węgłowski delivered an accurate cross, but Rissman missed the chance and headed wide. It was similar in the 46th minute, when, following a corner, a defender of the visiting team cleared Rissmann’s header off the goal line.
In the second half, both teams increased the pace of play. In the 65th minute, a visiting player struck powerfully from the edge of the penalty area. The ball went out of play, passing the right post of Przykłota’s goal. In the 67th minute, BKS scored the much-awaited goal. Jasiński shot the ball into the right corner of the visitors’ goal. From that point on, BKS began playing more cautiously, focusing mainly on counterattacks. Until the end of the match, the hosts created several more opportunities to score. Rissmann, Węgłowski and Pietkiewicz had good chances. In the 74th minute, Przykłota made a successful intervention, punching away a powerful free kick.
The final 15 minutes of the match became tense. The Sparta players were determined to score at any cost. The hosts dropped back into defense and repeatedly saved themselves by clearing the ball out of play. Toward the end of the match, the referees made two controversial decisions. In the first instance, they disallowed an equalizer for the visitors. Sparta’s players claimed that, after their attack, the BKS goalkeeper caught the ball when it had crossed the goal line. The assistant referee disagreed. Two visiting players were shown yellow cards for disputing his decision. In the second instance, the referee did not award a penalty when Pietkiewicz was fouled in the visitors’ penalty area. In the referee’s opinion, he had tried to win a penalty and was also shown a yellow card. Ultimately, BKS Bolesławiec defeated Sparta Świdnica 1–0.
