Joint operation in Wrocław and the Legnica area
Officers of the Lower Silesian Customs and Tax Office in Wrocław (DUCS), together with police officers from the Municipal Police Headquarters in Wrocław and Legnica (KMP), shut down illegal gambling venues in the municipality of Kunice and in Wrocław. During the operation, they secured 12 gaming machines, more than PLN 26,000 and drugs – methamphetamine.
Services detained 6 people
Three of the detained people are suspected of organizing and running illegal gambling activities. Two people who participated in illegal games were also detained, as was a person suspected of possessing and trafficking drugs and participating in gambling activities. It turned out that this person was wanted under an arrest warrant to serve a sentence of 5 months in prison.
Operation in Oleśnica
In Oleśnica, DUCS officers shut down another illegal gambling venue. They secured 5 machines and cash.
Reminder:
- Running gambling activities outside a casino, without a licence, is a crime.
- Possession of illegal machines carries a penalty of up to PLN 100,000 for each machine – both for the organizer and the premises owner.
- Illegal gambling is also punishable by up to 3 years in prison, while participation in an organized criminal group carries a penalty of up to 8 years.
