As we read on the Referendum in Nowogrodziec – Enough Chaos, Time for Change:

The referendum failed.
Around 700 votes were missing for it to be considered valid.
But do you know what succeeded?
We managed to touch the hearts of nearly 2,500 people.
That is 2,500 people who left their homes because they care about the gmina.
More than 90% of you said “YES” to change. And that says everything.

The initiators of the entire undertaking added:

We did not have large sums of money behind us.
We did not have transfers of 50,000 from Gościszów.
We had our 2,000 złoty—from our own pockets, from our own conscience.
We had you.
And that was enough to cause panic among those who had felt untouchable for years.

They also added:

Are we disappointed?
No.
We are only sorry that so many people prefer to stand on the sidelines while others make decisions for them.
We are sorry that, for some, politics is a swamp to flee from—even though that is precisely when the swamp grows.

Over the past few weeks, we endured hate, attacks, the airing of private matters and blackmail.
It was worth it.
Because today some people are not laughing at us—they are laughing at the 2,500 residents of this gmina. At those who were not afraid to say: “We want change.”
