Election silence is a period during which election campaigning and all activities intended to influence the election result are prohibited.

Examples of activities prohibited during election silence:

  • Distributing leaflets and election materials,
  • Conducting campaigns on social media,
  • Organizing rallies and election meetings,
  • Putting up posters and banners,
  • Publicly expressing support for a specific candidate.

Violating election silence may result in a fine. Publishing poll results may result in a penalty of between PLN 500,000 and PLN 1 million.

Election silence will end after polling stations close at 9:00 p.m. on Sunday (June 1), when the first exit poll results will be published.

All cases of violating the rules of election silence should be reported to the relevant authorities, namely the police or the prosecutor’s office.
