On Monday, March 21, the renovated library was opened at the Józef Piłsudski School Complex in Nowa Wieś. The ceremony was attended, among others, by village head Stanisław Witowski and councillor of the Nowogrodziec City Council Krzysztof Sadowski.

The ceremony coincided with the launch of the “All of Poland Reads to Kids” campaign. Julia Szajwaj, a retired Polish-language teacher, Barbara Paryś, chairwoman of the Parents’ Council, and Marta Kołodziejska, head of the School Services Centre in Nowogrodziec, read excerpts from “Treasure Island” by Robert Louis Stevenson to the school’s students.

There were also sea shanties and pirate costumes. “In the age of computers, television, mobile phones and the pursuit of money, it is worth pausing to read,” says Elżbieta Żak, a teacher at the School Complex in Nowa Wieś. “Literature offers a wealth of experiences from which there is much to learn.”
