Two years ago, we wrote that Olgierd Hoffman, the owner of the plot on Jeleniogórska Street, attended a City Council session. The Sopot-based company H & S Construction, whose president is Hoffman, wants to build a Stokrotka supermarket on the site. The store is to have 150 parking spaces and a restaurant. Asked directly by councillors whether it would be McDonald's, the president replied that he “cannot reveal the company's name, but it will be a McDrive”.

“We want to build a small shopping centre that will become a meeting place both for young people and for older people,” Hoffman said at the time. The company is building similar facilities throughout Poland.

We returned to the matter at the request of our Reader, who wrote to us by email: “Does the editorial office know what is happening with the plot on Jeleniogórska Street, where there is currently an unofficial car park? Something was supposed to be built there. And now there is silence.” The reader added pointedly: “This area is beginning to resemble the site on Zgorzelecka Street, near the PKS bus station.”

“Design work is currently under way,” Bożena Hoffman, a shareholder in H & S Construction, told us. It is not yet known exactly when construction will begin. However, the company representative stressed that in 2012 the facility “should already be standing”. We will return to the subject.
