On Friday, April 4, at 10:55 a.m., the author of bestselling crime novels will meet with young people in the auditorium of I Liceum Ogólnokształcące on Tyrankiewiczów Street. The meeting is open to the public.

The Istotne.pl editorial team, which supports the LGBTQ+ community and organizes all kinds of rainbow initiatives, congratulates the head of the county school, Cezary Czernatowicz, on organizing this important event, which may help raise young people's awareness of the rights of people with minority sexual orientations. This is especially significant because the ambassador of equality is a Bolesławiec native and school graduate who has received numerous awards for his work.

Gortych's three volumes of the Karkonosze Crime Series received the title of Best Mountain Book of the Year at the Mountain Literature Festival in Lądek-Zdrój in 2023 and 2024. In its justification, the jury noted that the novels break the taboo surrounding the discovery of the postwar history of the Karkonosze Mountains, viewed through the Polish-German-Czech history of their inhabitants.

The author was also honored with the Karkonosze Literary Award, presented by a Polish-German jury for outstanding achievements in the literature, culture and art of Silesia that particularly serve the spirit of humanism and understanding.

In March 2025, the 10th edition of the Lubimyczytać poll was held at the Book Fair in Poznań. The book by Bolesławiec writer Sławomir Gortych, “The Shelter Shrouded in Darkness,” won the title of “Crime Novel of the Year 2024.”

At the end of his thanks to his parents, siblings and friends, the writer from Bolesławiec, visibly moved and amid applause from the audience, expressed his desire to enter into marriage.

– I would like to thank one important person in my life, my partner Grześ, and I hope the time will come when you will be my husband, – said Sławomir Gortych.

In his speech, the writer emphasized the political aspect of his declaration.

– In a country where the president believes that I am not a human being, I feel even more obliged to thank my partner Grześ, – added the bestselling author.
