The District Prosecutor’s Office in Lubań is conducting an investigation against 29-year-old Marcin K.Marcin K., a resident of Lubań County, who is suspected of attempting to commit a robbery against a 63-year-old man.
The incident occurred on March 21, 2025, at approximately 7:00 p.m., outside a Biedronka chain store in Olszyna. – The investigation has established that on that day, an intoxicated man approached the victim, who was sitting in his car in the store’s parking lot, and decided to take his car – reports Ewa Węglarowicz-Makowska, press spokesperson for the Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Jelenia Góra. – The perpetrator opened the driver’s-side door and then attacked the victim, striking the man’s head and face with his hands and a glass bottle containing liquid.
Taken by surprise, the victim was unable to defend himself, but after a while he managed to get out of the vehicle. The victim ran into the store and called the police.
After reviewing surveillance footage, officers identified and arrested the perpetrator.
The victim suffered lacerations to his head and face, bruising around both eye sockets, and numerous abrasions on his back and legs.
The aggressor was brought to the prosecutor’s office, where he was charged with attempted robbery and causing bodily injuries to the victim resulting in a health disorder lasting more than seven days.
The suspect pleaded guilty to the alleged offense and gave an explanation. The spokesperson said: – He confirmed that, while intoxicated, he had attempted to take the victim’s car.
She added: – Despite his attempts, the perpetrator was unable to start the vehicle and flee the scene.
At the request of the District Prosecutor in Lubań, the court remanded the aggressor in custody for three months. The man could face up to 15 years in prison.
Other proceedings are currently pending against the 29-year-old, including a case concerning abuse of his mother and another theft.
