We regularly report in these pages on the appearance of our local treasure—Bolesławiec pottery—in films and television series. But for the first time, a ceramic set has been created specifically for a film. This concerns the latest work by acclaimed director Piotr Wereśniak, entitled “Piernikowe serce,” starring, among others, Olga Bołądź, Katarzyna Żak, Barbara Kurdej-Szatan, Piotr Głowacki, Małgorzata Socha and Mikołaj Roznerski.
The film will tell the story of the adventures of two families preparing for Christmas. The creators promise a warm family story.
In the film, which will premiere in the autumn, we will see a unique set for 10 people called… Piernikowe Serce. The pattern was designed by Paulina Stefańczyk, owner of Lady Blue pottery in Bolesławiec. Interestingly, the film’s set designer, Joanna Białousz, contacted the Bolesławiec designer herself. – She said that she had seen my designs and liked them very much – Paulina Stefańczyk recounts.
The set designer wanted to choose pottery to be used in the film. The Bolesławiec designer then offered to prepare a set specifically for the production.
And that is exactly what happened. It is especially worth emphasizing that a traditional Bolesławiec stamp was used to create the Piernikowe Serce set.
The set appealed greatly both to the aforementioned Joanna Białousz and to the entire film crew. It was originally intended to be used only in the film’s final scene—the Christmas Eve dinner. But it won the filmmakers’ hearts so thoroughly that its elements were also used in another scene. (For example, viewers will be able to see Katarzyna Żak with a mug from the City of Ceramics.)
– “Piernikowe serce” ends with a Christmas Eve scene. All our characters meet in this scene. And things will happen! – director Piotr Wereśniak announces. – This tableware looks great. I think it will play the leading role in this scene because it is beautiful.
The film will hit cinemas at the turn of November and December 2025. However, the pottery with the unique “Piernikowe Serce” pattern can already be ordered!
