The causes of the accident are not yet known. However, much suggests that the truck driver was attempting to overtake other vehicles and collided head-on with a Mistubishi Pajero.
Two people died in the accident, even though doctors attempted to resuscitate one of them. Two others were taken to the district hospital in Bolesławiec. They are in serious condition, have multiple-organ injuries and are therefore undergoing surgery.
Firefighters were at the scene and helped remove one person from a vehicle in which they were trapped.
Traffic on the route was blocked for more than two hours.
