We were the first to write, in November 2024, about the excessive funeral fees set by Father Jarosiewicz in Węgliniec, in an article: Father Jarosiewicz has a price list for sacramental services. Parishioners in Węgliniec: that is a lot of money.

Another parishioner approached Wirtualna Polska with the story of what happened when he wanted to bury his grandmother. Father Jarosiewicz did not accept the PLN 400 he offered. Instead, as the parishioner recounted in wp.pl, he allegedly told him to find “another idiot who would bury his grandmother”

for that amount of money.

Father Jarosiewicz told WP journalists that he would sue the parishioners who had described everything to the editorial office for defamation. He explained that the price he had demanded for the burial (PLN 800—the editor) was intended to cover the costs of church services, the equipment taken to the cemetery, and organizing the entire undertaking.

The parishioner’s grandmother was buried by another priest from a parish in Lubań. The curia gave wp.pl journalists the same terse response it gave us: there is no price list for priests’ services.

Let us recall that the change of parish priest imposed on the parishioners of Węgliniec by Bishop Andrzej Siemieniewski at the end of 2023 was met with reluctance in the town. Some parishioners even visited the Curia to protest and express their opposition to the change of parish priest, but nobody took their views into account.

We have been writing about Father Jarosiewicz since 2023

There had long been publicity surrounding the former parish priest of the Marian Basilica in Bolesławiec. He was said to have a reputation as a clergyman unfriendly toward people. In December 2023, a film report titled “Who Is Adrian?” was created based on materials publicly shared on social media. We believe that it was precisely to block and remove this film from the internet that Father Andrzej Jarosiewicz and Adrian Drankowski filed separate lawsuits against the editor of istotne.pl in the court in Jelenia Góra. They later brought two more criminal cases, this time in Bolesławiec. Since the two lawsuits were almost identical, the court in Bolesławiec joined the cases. Now Father Andrzej Jarosiewicz and Adrian Drankowski will sit next to each other on the bench of the prosecutors.

Father Andrzej Jarosiewicz is suing journalists for publishing materials that, in his view, defame him and expose him to a loss of trust. The case concerns several articles and a film that was available on YouTube. By court order, the film may not be shown for now, but we are trying to make it publicly available again.
