On December 21, 2024, dh Jan Kopeć, President of OSP, dh Marcin Kowal, Chief of OSP, dh Adam Dudkiewicz, an OSP member, and dh Marek Kowal, an OSP member, took part in distributing carbon monoxide detectors. The aim of the campaign was to make residents aware of what a carbon monoxide detector is, what it is used for, and how important a role it plays.
A total of 11 carbon monoxide detectors, purchased with their own funds, were given to residents. The campaign was initiated by firefighter dh Martyna Białowąs. When Martyna learned that a senior woman from Bolesławiec had been poisoned by carbon monoxide and taken to hospital, she decided to help: she gave the victim a detector. We wrote about it in the article: A beautiful gesture by an istotne.pl reader. She gave a carbon monoxide detector to an injured senior woman.
Why is it worth using carbon monoxide detectors?
- A detector detects the presence of carbon monoxide before its concentration reaches a dangerous level. It can save lives by issuing an alarm at the right moment.
- A detector operates 24/7, providing protection at night as well, when residents are asleep and unaware of the danger.
- Detectors are easy to install. They can be placed in rooms particularly exposed to carbon monoxide emissions.
