Staroszkolna Street and Dolne Młyny Street have needed repairs for a long time. Not merely ordinary pothole patching, but a thorough reconstruction. A year ago, TVN showed Staroszkolna as an example of some of the worst roads in Poland. Pothole after pothole, sunken asphalt and unregulated verges. The county authority patched the larger potholes and applied the best solution… the speed limit was reduced to 30 km/h on part of the street.

After winter, both streets are once again a picture of misery and despair. Drivers have to enter the opposite lanes to avoid the potholes.

– Talks are underway with the aim of reaching an agreement on a joint project: the renovation of Staroszkolna Street. The County Authority, the City Office and the entrepreneur whose company is located on the street in question have each declared equal financial participation. Preliminary estimates indicate that the modernization may cost 450,000 złoty. If the agreement reaches a successful conclusion—and many indications point to that—renovation work will begin as early as May. Dolne Młyny Street will be repaired on an ongoing basis – says Bolesławiec County Head, Cezary Przybylski.

Considering how long it takes the county authority to agree on various decisions, perhaps the potholes on both streets should be patched not on an ongoing basis, but today. For people’s safety.
