The furniture company had premises in several locations: on Kubika Street, Zgorzelecka Street, and most recently on Garncarska Street. It mainly sold and installed kitchens, but also made built-in wardrobes and other furniture. Customers had mixed opinions of the company’s owner. Some were delighted and recommended him to friends. Others criticized delays in completing orders but turned a blind eye to them.
The company had reportedly been experiencing financial difficulties for some time, but it only began to sink last year. In March 2010, a customer reported to the police that the company’s owner had failed to complete his order and had not returned the advance payment. “After investigating the matter, we did not initiate proceedings because the company was operating and this was not fraud, but rather a failure to meet the terms of the contract. In this situation, the customer could bring a civil case before the court,” says Adrianna Szajwaj, spokesperson for the Bolesławiec police.
At the beginning of 2011, the company’s sign disappeared from the building. The shop no longer serves customers. Posts appeared on Internet forums from people who had lost contact with the owner and saw no chance of recovering the advance payments they had made.
One of the last kitchens we know the company made was completed in August 2010. The owner was a week late with the installation. As an apology, he brought a bottle of cognac. Impressed with the work, the customer recommended him to her friend. The friend signed a contract in November. She paid an advance of PLN 8,000. She ordered a kitchen, two built-in wardrobes and furniture for the hallway. The furniture was priced at PLN 15,000. This was considerably less than other sellers had offered. Our Reader last received information about her order by SMS on January 27. The owner promised to come the next day to take measurements for the built-in wardrobe. He did not come, and other readers already concerned about his disappearance had begun writing on the Internet forum.
Another customer had known the company for a long time. His parents had been satisfied with the furniture they ordered from it. He himself bought a lacquered kitchen. He wanted a breakfast bar made for it. He paid PLN 700. The completion deadline passed on January 10, 2011. The owner stopped answering his calls. Our Reader says he can understand a lot and would even accept an explanation that the owner had run into difficulties and was unable to make the bar. He only wants to get his money back. He feels cheated.
There are probably more people who would like their advance payments returned. An acquaintance of the owner occasionally appears at the shop and knows that some orders are being completed. Apparently, the company owner is still in contact with some customers.
For all those who have not been so lucky and have uncompleted contracts, we recommend posting on the forum below this article. This may make it easier to contact other customers who are in a similar situation.
