Last Friday, the second edition of the annual Lower Silesian Voivodeship Museum Event of the Year competition was decided at the National Museum in Wrocław. Bolesławiec City Hall: – The Museum of Ceramics was also among the winners, receiving first prize in the category “Educational initiatives unrelated to temporary exhibitions” for the project “Centre of Old Pottery-Making Techniques – new, attractive and friendly ceramic education”.

Museum:

We are very pleased that the competition committee appreciated our many years of efforts to create an innovative place connected with experiencing ceramics. The Centre of Old Pottery-Making Techniques, located at 14 Kutuzowa Street, was established as part of the cross-border project “Centres of Old Crafts on the Via Fabrilis Route”. It is a unique place that combines the functions of a museum and a ceramic workshop, as a miniature production line has been recreated in the building, allowing visitors to learn the secrets of the process of making Bolesławiec ceramics and take part in various ceramic workshops. There is also an exhibition space presenting the contemporary work of local ceramic factories, a room for children and multimedia facilities. CDTG is also a place for intergenerational meetings and training for future ceramic artists. In the building’s courtyard, an authentic 19th-century ceramic kiln, fully accessible to visitors, and a replica of the 18th-century Great Pot have been installed, making the site unique in the region. It is also an important point on the map of the Lower Silesian Route of Industrial Heritage.

It also adds:

We would like to express our enormous gratitude to our partners in the “Centres of Old Crafts on the Via Fabrilis Route” project: the urban municipality of Kłodzko, the Municipality of Jaromer and the City of Bolesławiec, without whom the creation of CDTG would not have been possible. We thank the Jury and the Organisers of the competition for the opportunity to present the results of our work and for recognising them in a way that exceeded our wildest expectations. We are delighted with this success all the more because we found ourselves among an outstanding group of competition winners who, for years, have shaped not only the image of Lower Silesian museums (…).

We warmly congratulate all the winners! And, on behalf of ourselves and all Lower Silesian museums, we warmly invite you to our welcoming premises!
