A reader, a resident of the rural Bolesławiec municipality, wanted to take an old bumper to the Selective Municipal Waste Collection Point on Kościuszki Street, but it was not accepted. The reader therefore asked: What is an ordinary, honest citizen supposed to do with such an item? Dump it in the forest?

According to the response we received from the Bolesławiec municipality, the bumper should be taken to a vehicle dismantling station.

Unfortunately, under current regulations, waste resulting from vehicle dismantling, including at-home repairs, is not municipal waste. Therefore, it cannot be collected as part of regular municipal waste collections or taken to a PSZOK. If the waste was generated as a result of carrying out repairs independently, the car owner must take it themselves to a vehicle dismantling station or hand it over to a mechanic who has appropriate agreements in place for collecting this type of waste with a specialized waste collector. Unfortunately, one must also expect to pay for such a service. The same applies to tires from agricultural vehicles, tires from vehicles weighing more than 3.5 tonnes, and so on.
