A tragedy occurred on August 26, before 11:00 p.m., at the Polkowice-Sieroszowice Mining Plant. As the copper giant reports:
(...) an accident involving a bolter operator occurred in the G-51 area. A doctor from the Mining Emergency Rescue Service called to the scene pronounced the man dead.
The Wrocław District Mining Office was notified of the accident. Company: “A commission will investigate the circumstances of the incident. By decision of KGHM’s management board, a three-day period of mourning has been introduced at all of the company’s branches.”
It also added: “We extend our deepest condolences to the miner’s family and loved ones.”
The 48-year-old man had worked at the mine since 2002.
