It is with immense sadness that we announce the deaths of two firefighters from Rescue and Firefighting Unit No. 1 and Rescue and Firefighting Unit No. 2 of the Municipal Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Poznań, who took part in extinguishing a building fire.
On the night of Saturday to Sunday, 24–25 August 2024, during a basement fire on Kraszewskiego Street in Poznań, an explosion occurred, as a result of which 11 firefighters were injured. Sadly, two of our colleagues died.
The family and firefighters of the Municipal Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Poznań have been provided with psychological support by the State Fire Service.
On his own behalf and on behalf of the entire firefighting community, Chief Commander of the State Fire Service, Brigadier General Mariusz Feltynowski, extends his condolences and deepest sympathy to the families and loved ones of the deceased firefighters.
While providing help, they made the ultimate sacrifice. May they rest in peace!
