Mariusz F. deliberately destroyed property of great value on 21 April 2024 at one of the Biedronka chain’s stores in Jelenia Góra. The Jelenia Góra Regional Prosecutor’s Office:
The perpetrator started a fire in a rubbish container, which burned down completely. The fire then partially destroyed the façade and roof structure before spreading to the Biedronka market building adjacent to the container, partially destroying its façade and roof structure.
Investigators: – In addition, the fire spread inside the market, destroying its equipment and the goods stored there. The injured company estimated the total value of the damage at PLN 4,086,554.22.
The following day, F. went to another Biedronka store in Jelenia Góra, where he again set fire to a rubbish container located there.
The perpetrator was arrested and placed in temporary custody.
Prosecutor’s Office: – During the investigation, expert psychiatrists were consulted. They concluded that he was neither mentally ill nor intellectually disabled. However, he was addicted to alcohol. At the time he committed these offences, he was fully mentally competent.
Mariusz F. faces up to 10 years in prison.
