Mammography is an X-ray examination that takes about 5 minutes. For the vast majority of women, it is painless. It involves taking four X-ray images—two of each breast. Early detection of any changes has a profound impact on the course and effectiveness of treatment.

- Mammography should be performed once every two years. It is also important to see a doctor immediately if any worrying symptoms are observed, including changes in the shape or position of the breasts, wrinkling of the skin or a change in its colour, redness, ulceration, or a lump or hardening that is clearly different in consistency from the rest of the body. It is worth knowing, however, that not every lump or skin change is cancer. Nevertheless, it always requires a medical examination, explains Dorota Sepko, vice-president of the Moja Mammografia Association.

Women aged 45 to 74 who have not undergone this examination in the last two years can take advantage of mammography funded by the NFZ. They only need to register in advance and bring proof of identity to the appointment. The mammography bus offers women a comfortable waiting room and changing room. No prior preparation is required. An electroradiology technician is on site and first conducts a medical interview, followed by the mammogram.

- Our mammography buses are equipped with modern and highly accurate digital equipment. The examination result is usually available about two weeks after the visit. Women receive it online, says Andrzej Stencel, president of Geneva Trust spółka z o.o. - If the doctor notices anything concerning in the images, the patient receives instructions with the result explaining what she should do next and where she should seek help.
