As reported by KGHM:

At the Lubin Mining Plants, in the G-9 division in the GG-2 area, a fatal accident involving an employee occurred. As a result of injuries sustained when rocks fell from the sidewall of the excavation, the operator of self-propelled underground mining machinery has died.

In connection with the incident, a commission was appointed to investigate the causes of the accident. The commission includes, among others, experts from the Higher Mining Office and representatives of KGHM.

The 41-year-old miner who died tragically had worked at ZG Lubin since 2005. By decision of the management board of the copper giant, a three-day mourning period has been introduced at all of the company’s branches.
