Customs and Tax Service officers from the Lower Silesian Customs and Tax Office in Wrocław, together with officers from the Warmian-Masurian Border Guard Branch, conducted joint operations to combat smuggling.
– In one of the parking lots in Wodzisław County, officers selected a truck for inspection. During the inspection, they found 60 cartons containing 7.8 tonnes of illegal dried tobacco in the vehicle’s trailer – reports Agnieszka Rzeźnicka-Gniadek, spokesperson for the Lower Silesian National Revenue Administration.
She adds: – The cartons of tobacco were hidden behind pallets of building blocks and additional pallets intended to conceal the rest of the trailer’s contents.
The seized tobacco was worth over PLN 6.3 million. The shipment was traveling from southern Europe to one of the Baltic countries.
