As every month, opponents of abortion gathered in Bolesławiec’s Market Square. They prayed before a plastic or plaster figure on a wicker base decorated with artificial flowers. The people gathered, most of them over 65, recited the rosary.
At the back of the gathering stood two men holding a banner. On the left was a photograph of Donald Tusk, and on the right an allegedly aborted fetus. We write “allegedly” because it is not actually known in what circumstances the photograph was taken or whether it might, for example, show a fetus from a pathological pregnancy that was spontaneously miscarried by a woman.
At Saturday’s gathering, the pious opponents of abortion once again displayed indecent content in a public place, even though the event’s organiser is facing criminal proceedings in court over displaying the banner in December.
A motion seeking punishment for an offence involving causing public outrage during the gathering held on 2 December 2023, from 3:00 p.m. to approximately 3:40 p.m. in Bolesławiec, at Rynek Street, by the organiser and leader of the gathering through displaying indecent content on a banner, namely an image depicting bloodied and torn human fetuses (Article 141 of the Code of Petty Offences), against Roksana P., was submitted on 25 March 2024 to the District Court, Second Criminal Division, in Bolesławiec.

During the gathering, a certain man who was standing nearby but was also praying began vulgarly insulting one of the women who was not taking part in the prayer. The police checked his identity.
Women walking through the Market Square with small children tried to avoid the gathering and shield the banner from their children.
Unfortunately, the police did not react to the offence immediately. They recorded the details of the men holding the banner only after the prayer had ended, that is, after several dozen minutes.
