– These elections are about how we will develop our local communities. It is untrue that women’s rights are not rights that should be addressed in local government elections, because we know perfectly well that here in Bolesławiec we have Bolesławiec Hospital, which is subordinate to the County. Today, the hospital applies the conscience clause, while we, as the Left, oppose its use and believe that every Polish man and every Polish woman has the right to be properly served and properly treated in such a hospital, and that no service should be prohibited or refused to such people – said MP Arkadiusz Sikora. – But care in hospitals is just one element of our election campaign. In these elections, we are running with the slogan SMS for residents of villages and towns; SMS stands for “school, housing, hospital.” School, because direct supervision over schools is exercised both by the County Office – over secondary schools – and by the City of Bolesławiec – over primary schools. We are also interested in building affordable rental housing. As the Left, we are entering these elections with the idea that the municipality builds, while the state finances the housing. We want to create a model in which the municipality decides where the housing is to be built and how it is to be constructed. At the same time, we are lobbying to obtain funding from the state budget. Two years ago, when voting on KPO funds, we, as the Left, voted in favor of funds for affordable rental housing, securing in the 2021–2027 KPO budget funding for 73,000 municipal and social housing units, and reserving PLN 20,000,000,000 to co-finance county hospitals. These funds, which we fought for two years ago, will soon reach us, because the government has unblocked them in Brussels. As you know very well, this was one of our election promises, which we fulfilled immediately after the elections. Thus, in the near future these funds will be allocated and distributed both at the level of the Lower Silesian Regional Assembly and at the level of counties and municipalities – added the Left MP.
– I am running from first place for the Bolesławiec County Council, from the Left’s list, in constituency no. 1. I love Bolesławiec County; I was born here and I live here. As a longtime healthcare worker and assistant to our MP, Mr Arkadiusz Sikora, I know what problems need to be solved in our county. But to do this, I need your votes, which I very sincerely ask for. As a Bolesławiec County councillor, I promise that I will lobby for the development of our county and for its residents. Once again, I sincerely ask you for your votes – said Łukasz Klimowski.
– I have lived in Bolesławiec for 25 years. I come from the Lubusz region, near Zielona Góra. I have been a councillor in the County for 22 years; I was deputy county head and a member of the Executive Board. As chairman of the SLD County Council, working with its members, I think we achieved a great deal here for the development of Bolesławiec County. I am running for the Lower Silesian Regional Assembly. With this experience, I believe we can develop our small region, Bolesławiec County, and we will strive to ensure its continued growth. There is great potential here: these are areas rich in copper; mining and agriculture are developing, as is industry, and we will develop all of this here, Mr MP – said Stanisław Chwojnicki.
– Ladies and gentlemen, as a member of the Regional Assembly, I would primarily like to work for women. Particular attention should be paid to the fact that women have recently been sending us a clear and unambiguous message: they want to be treated with dignity and respect. They want to decide for themselves. It cannot be that politicians decide their fate. Another very important issue is senior citizens. Our society is aging, so I believe that local governments should support older people in their loneliness. Every municipality should establish day-care centres and senior centres where older people could become active and undergo rehabilitation. Ladies and gentlemen, let us respect our grandmothers and grandfathers. Another very important issue is schools, and above all, a warm meal for children in primary schools, among others, where they spend a great deal of time. I believe that such a warm, balanced meal is essential. Especially because it will also teach children how to eat properly. As a councillor, I sincerely invite you to vote on 7 April. I believe women are very much needed in politics; we have a completely different perspective on certain issues and we have experience. Justyna Ziółkowska, the Left’s candidate for the Lower Silesian Regional Assembly. No. 3 on list no. 4. I invite you – said Justyna Ziółkowska.
– I am running for councillor of Warta Bolesławiecka Municipality. My homeland is the place where I live; I have lived in Warta Bolesławiecka Municipality for 15 years. Before that, I lived here in the city of Bolesławiec. I was persuaded, asked and inspired by certain people, including MP Arek Sikora, who encouraged me to participate and run for the Warta Bolesławiecka Municipal Council. Above all, I would like to focus on encouraging integration and communication between neighbours, because these are times when young people sit only at computers and on the internet. There is no integration outside, and nothing is happening for young people in the playgrounds – at least in my area. There is little inter-school, or even neighbourhood, integration. I would simply like to stimulate all social and integration-related activities in our local community. I encourage you to participate in our elections on 7 April – said Patrycja Champlewska.
– My ambition is to apply the experience from my business activity – I am an insurance agent and advise people on insurance and investments – to public service. Because I have extensive experience, I hope I will be able to use it to help people with these local government matters as well. I have repeatedly been involved in local activities; I was chairman of the Village Council and participated in associations in our Siekierczyn Municipality. My work also covers Bolesławiec County. Many people know me and know that I am trustworthy; I often simply help because it is the human thing to do. Another area in which I would like to help is sport. For 30 years I have run a table tennis section, and I am still an active table tennis player at our club in Zaręba. I believe I will be able to help young people become active and lead a healthy lifestyle, because the most important issue among our youth is that, as my colleague mentioned, they spend too much time sitting in front of computers and get too little exercise. I am an example that a healthy mind is in a healthy body, and vice versa, because everything must work together. Thus, promoting these positive values is what I consider my task if I am elected to the Regional Assembly – said Andrzej Adamczuk.
– Ladies and gentlemen, I am running for the County Council from our list, the Left’s list, in fifth place. I have extensive experience in business, training and security. Therefore, I believe that my work and experience qualify me to be a good County Council councillor. That is why I ask you to vote for me. Thank you – said Piotr Hetel.
– Ladies and gentlemen, as you can see, the Left’s team for both the County Council and the Lower Silesian Regional Assembly includes people with considerable, even enormous, experience in management and local government activity. But it is also clear that there is a new, younger generation that does not yet have this experience. Perhaps it lacks experience – certainly local government experience – but it has extensive professional experience, and we are counting on this generational change also becoming our symbol here in Bolesławiec. In other words, experience and youth are working together. Our offer includes people such as Stanisław Chwojnicki, who has served and continues to serve the Bolesławiec left, as well as Łukasz Klimowski, a new or young representative of the Left’s new generation. Therefore, you will certainly find people on the Left’s lists whom you can vote for: either those with extensive experience or those with less experience but who are young. On 7 April, ladies and gentlemen, I ask you to vote for the Left’s list – concluded Arkadiusz Sikora.
