A resident of a town near Złotoryja reported to the Złotoryja County Police Headquarters, informing officers of a fraud committed to his detriment.
In conversation with police officers, he explained that he had found a leaflet on his property informing him of the possibility of obtaining funding, but it contained no detailed information.
The senior citizen therefore decided to find out what the funding concerned and what its terms were. To this end, he contacted the person indicated on the leaflet, and a meeting took place at his home later that same day. During the conversation with company representatives, he learned that the offer concerned financing the entire investment involving the purchase and installation of a heat pump.
The meeting lasted several hours, after which the senior citizen was told that the contract and the remaining documentation would be sent to him by post. However, instead, several days later the 73-year-old received a loan repayment schedule for more than PLN 30,000.
The reported case is the subject of ongoing proceedings. Lower Silesian police officers are appealing for prudence and caution in similar situations. Let us remember to protect our personal data, which may be used by unauthorized persons to commit criminal acts.
