On 27 October, the Municipal Electoral Commission in Bolesławiec adopted a resolution refusing to register the list of candidates for the City Council submitted by the Bogusław Nowak Voters’ Electoral Committee in electoral district no. 2. The MEC found that Mariusz Grzegorz Lickiewicz, whose name appeared on the list, was not included in the electoral register of the city of Bolesławiec on 22 October 2010 (the day the list of candidates for councillors was submitted), and therefore did not have the right to stand for election.

Lickiewicz registered for permanent residence in Bolesławiec on 25 October this year. On the same day, he was also entered in the electoral register of the Bolesławiec Urban Municipality. However, according to the Commission, the defect in the submission had not been remedied.

Bogusław Nowak’s Voters’ Electoral Committee appealed the decision. Successfully. “The Committee’s errors were corrected within three days, so the Municipal Electoral Commission should have considered the defect remedied,” Janina Nowakowska, head of the Jelenia Góra branch of the National Electoral Office, told IstotneInformacje.pl. On 29 October, the Bolesławiec MEC is to revoke the resolution refusing to register Nowak’s list.
