Let us recall: on December 20, after 11:00 a.m., TVP Info suddenly disappeared from television screens. The TV Polonia channel appeared in its place. On December 29 TVP Info began broadcasting again. The channel went on air at 7:30 p.m., showing TVP’s main news program. It was followed by a current-affairs program hosted by Jarosław Kulczycki.
The first impression after watching the evening current-affairs programs, in which guests invited to the studio took part, is that compared with the previous TVP Info, the channel is certainly more modest and calmer. So far, there have been no political attacks, shouting over one another or interruptions by the host; there are no situations in which guests speak simultaneously, and there are also no red “horror bars.”
There is currently a fierce dispute over the public media and the way they were taken over. The former authorities of TV and radio, as well as Law and Justice politicians, claim that the public media were taken over unlawfully. The media’s new authorities and politicians from the governing coalition hold a different view.
