The bus was taking children on a trip from Legnica to Złotoryja. According to the police officers’ preliminary findings, the driver of the Opel passenger car most likely lost control of the vehicle because he was driving too fast for the road conditions, hit the energy-absorbing barriers, then bounced off them and moved into the opposite lane, hitting a bus travelling correctly in the opposite direction. As a result of the collision, the bus drove into a ditch.
The passenger in the Opel, as well as two children, were taken to hospital. A replacement bus arrived at the scene and took the children to the kindergarten in Legnica.
