On Sunday (24 October), BKS Bobrzanie played an away match against Piast Żmigród. The first half began with attacks from our team. In the 3rd minute, Ariel Sworacki, replacing Chrystian Serkies, found himself in a good position in front of Piast’s goal. Unfortunately, several metres from the hosts’ goal, he failed to make clean contact with the ball, and his shot was blocked by the defenders. BKS created another opportunity in the 17th minute. Following Filipiak’s play, Sworacki played the ball across the face of goal. Unfortunately, none of our players finished the move, and the ball was cleared into the field once again by Piast’s defenders.
In the 31st minute, the very active Sworacki scored for BKS. Unfortunately, the assistant referee spotted our player in an offside position, and the goal was disallowed. In the 38th minute, BKS produced a very fine move down the right side of the pitch. Głowacki passed to Filipiak, who then sent a powerful ball into the hosts’ goalmouth. Unfortunately, once again Piast’s defenders beat Ariel Sworacki to the ball at the last moment and cleared it. Another delivery from Filipiak in the 40th minute travelled across the empty goal. In the 43rd minute, following a move down the left side, Mielnik passed to Sworacki. Our striker’s shot went just wide of the post. It should be noted that the hosts did not create a single scoring opportunity in the first half.
The second half began with further BKS attacks. In the 47th minute, Polański shot from 20 metres. The ball went wide of Piast’s goal. A minute later, Filipiak launched a fast move down the right side of the pitch. His cross into Piast’s penalty area found the head of Ariel Sworacki, who gave the goalkeeper no chance with a shot into the far corner. We lead 1–0! Piast began attacking the BKS goal only after conceding. Our defence, playing well under the leadership of “Professor” Pietrzak, broke up Piast’s attacks before they reached Marek Przykłota’s penalty area.
A controversial situation occurred in the 90th minute of the match. Before a free kick for Piast was taken, pushing and shoving broke out in the BKS penalty area, during which one of Piast’s players fell onto the pitch. Once again, the assistant referee “shone,” and following his loud intervention, the referee stopped the free kick from being taken. After consulting with the assistant referee, the referee showed a red card to our defender, Błażej Rajchel. Despite the added time and being a man down, BKS skilfully broke up Piast’s attacks. BKS secured its first away victory.
