Update 2023-11-30
Bolesławiec police on the incident:
Yesterday afternoon, in Gromadka Municipality, a car and a train collided at an unguarded railway crossing. Both drivers were sober.
Preliminary findings indicate that difficult road conditions and failure to adjust speed contributed to a 40-year-old resident of Gromadka Municipality losing control of the passenger car.
Bolesławiec police officers carrying out activities at the scene confiscated the driver's licence. The driver's further fate will be decided by the court.
The officers add:
Difficult road conditions have persisted for several days. Low temperatures and snowfall make the roads very slippery and considerably extend braking distances. Therefore, police officers are appealing for vigilance and for drivers to adjust their speed to the prevailing conditions.
The incident occurred on 29 November (Wednesday) after 5:05 p.m. in Nowa Kuźnia (Bolesławiec County). A passenger car collided with a railbus. Four people were travelling in the vehicles: two in the passenger car and two in the railbus. No one was injured.
The response lasted more than two hours. The following took part in the operation: JRG Bolesławiec, OSP Gromadka, OSP Wierzbowa, OSP Nowa Kuźnia, the police, an emergency medical team and the railway protection service.
