Józef Król has been associated with the Democratic Left Alliance since the summer. Previously, he was a member of Civic Platform. He has lived in Bolesławiec for five years. He has no local-government experience. He has the same first and last name as the city’s former president, currently a county councillor and head of the Zakład Energetyki Cieplnej, Józef Król.
The young Józef Król is running because, in his opinion, the city is developing too slowly. For now, he has no election platform; it is currently being prepared.
Comments from the opposing candidates
Piotr Roman:
– I’m glad they didn’t put forward Piotr Roman, because there are several of them in the county… Of course, that’s a joke. The Democratic Left Alliance thinks it will benefit from the Król name, but it will be somewhat puzzling when Józef Król (the one from the Local Government Forum, not the Democratic Left Alliance) endorses Piotr Roman in the near future. In any case, he is the third candidate who has been associated with Civic Platform. It turns out that Bolesławiec’s Civic Platform is a kind of talent incubator. In general, it is already clear that there will be a large number of candidates, and this will serve democracy, because every candidate will increase turnout.
Dariusz Kwaśniewski:
– This decision does not surprise me. Nor does the candidate himself. People have been talking about him for some time. I will not comment on the candidate, his platform or his ideas for Bolesławiec. I have adopted the principle that I will not concern myself with opposing candidates, except for one—the incumbent president. I think that is a good approach. It is a waste of time and energy to fight one another. Let’s save our strength for the person who has governed our city—and not very well—for eight years already.
