The largest number of voters supported the League of Polish Families candidate. Ryszard Matusiak won 28 percent of the vote. The following candidates took the next places: Andrzej Piesiak (22%), Stanisław Gwizda (18%), Ryszard Nowak (16%) and Marcin Zawiła (12%). The remaining candidates received a total of five percent of the vote.
The turnout surprised no one. As expected, it was low and did not even exceed 3%.
The Legnica Delegation of the National Electoral Office reports that voting took place without any major incidents. Only in Wojcieszów were Leszek Bubel's leaflets distributed on Saturday, while wild information about the turnout appeared on one of the Bolesławiec websites, as the Delegation described it. No other violations of the electoral silence were recorded.
More than 800,000 people were eligible to vote in the Legnica–Jelenia Góra electoral district, and 22,595 voted, of which 454 ballots were invalid. The by-election had to be held following the death of Jerzy Cieślak, an SLD senator from Jelenia Góra.
