As reported by the Nowogrodziec Municipality:

In March this year, the Bolesław Chrobry Primary School in Nowogrodziec joined the nationwide project of the “School for School” programme (...). Initiated by Caritas Polska, the programme is a response to the dramatic situation of the education sector in Syria. As a result of the warfare conducted between 2012 and 2016 and the most recent earthquake in February 2023, 70% of educational institutions were affected.

On 21 April, a major charity campaign, “We Play for Aleppo – Nowogrodziec School for Aleppo School”, was held at the school in Nowogrodziec. The municipal government said: – Thanks to the funds raised, as many as 9 educational institutions in Syria that suffered during the armed conflict and the earthquake will receive support.

It added:

The school in Nowogrodziec has won a competition for the most creative charity initiative carried out as part of the School for School programme! The jury, which included the programme’s ambassador Ida Nowakowska (pictured – editor’s note: istotne.pl), selected our school from among more than 70 schools.

It further explained:

An original performance devoted to the difficult situation in Syria, a raffle, sports competitions, a book fair, the “We Dance for Aleppo” show featuring more than 50 students, a photo wall with a themed installation, a cake sale and excellent promotion of the campaign on social media, as well as through billboards and email marketing, plus specially prepared lessons about life in Syria. All this and much more took place at the Bolesław Chrobry Primary School in Nowogrodziec, which earned the highest number of points and thus won the title of laureate. The winning school’s prize is a visit from Ida Nowakowska, which will take place in June.
