The initiators of the meeting in Bolesławiec are MPs: Małgorzata Sekuła-Szmajdzińska and Robert Obaz. The meeting is organised in cooperation with the Mayor of Bolesławiec Piotr Roman.

According to information provided by the GrowSpace Foundation, over the past three years the number of cases of depression and anxiety disorders among children and young people in Poland has increased by more than 30 percent. In 2022, 2,031 young people attempted suicide, and 150 of these attempts ended in death. A record number of suicide attempts was also recorded among children aged 7–12. There are only 1,200 beds in child psychiatry in Poland, and all of them are occupied; in many hospitals, occupancy is 150 percent.

The meeting’s initiators hope to begin a discussion on this subject in our region as well. Psychologists, representatives of psychiatric hospitals, therapists and school counsellors will take part in the discussion. The discussion will focus on issues related to the current situation in child and adolescent psychiatry. We will discuss both the problems it has to face and proposals for solutions and actions that will improve child psychiatry.

The MPs representing the Legnica–Jelenia Góra region believe that the debate will help improve the situation in Polish child psychiatry. We therefore warmly invite you to take part in the event and work together on developing this field.
