The basic principles behind the design were simple and clear: clothing should be very lightweight, warm and durable. Consequently, the fibre was minimised as much as possible, eventually reaching a weight of 5 grams at a length of 40 kilometres. This fibre was used to produce a fabric with exceptional resistance to abrasion, snags, tearing and deformation—unless exposed to very high temperatures or strong chemicals, it can withstand a great deal.
Fleece clothing is something of a curse for the fashion industry because, as one of the few types of clothing, it cannot be transformed into an exclusive, elegant accessory and, since its beginnings, has served only its original practical purposes. Although a fleece jacket is not suitable for formal occasions, it is indispensable by the water, in the mountains, at a campsite or in the forest. It is very lightweight and stretchy, does not restrict movement and does not weigh the wearer down during physical activity. In addition, fleece is very easy to keep clean, which also places it high among workwear and outdoor clothing.
Graff Fleece Jackets
The Polish company Graff offers a wide selection of this type of clothing. It produces not only lightweight and thick jackets, but also various styles designed for different purposes.
Model 226 is a zip-up jacket with a stand-up collar and narrow panels made of thinner, elastic material. It is made of an easy-to-clean fabric, so outdoor activities do not carry the risk of damaging the clothing through dirt. Combined with thermal underwear, it is an ideal solution for active people, as it wicks excess sweat and heat away while insulating against the cold from within.
A very similar option, but with a hood, is the 225 fleece jacket. It has identical properties and is additionally equipped with a soft hood that protects the nape, neck and head from wind and cold. The hood is made of the same material, reducing the risk of an overheated head and allowing the scalp to be properly ventilated. The differences lie in the colour scheme and the arrangement of the pockets.
Graff jacket number 228 is a thicker version designed to protect against low temperatures. It is equipped with spacious vertical pockets, as well as inserts made of elastic material on the sleeves and under the arms. These elastic panels ensure that the garment does not restrict movement or stiffen the body, which is extremely important for anyone who spends time outdoors engaging in highly active pursuits.
Jacket 223 is a thicker hooded model that also features inserts made of elastic material. The hood is likewise made of thinner, stretchy and highly breathable fabric, as is the jacket’s bottom drawcord. This creates an excellent effect that is not only aesthetic but also ensures exceptional comfort and provides excellent protection from the wind. The extended back fits closely to the body, while storm cuffs with thumb holes prevent the sleeves from riding up or allowing drafts in. Thanks to both solutions, the clothing stays in place even during intense activity. The manufacturer ensured that the appropriate fabric weight and breathability make the jacket suitable both for winter trips and warmer spring outings.
The undeniable advantages of fleece are its low weight and enormous versatility. Whether packed in luggage or already worn, it does not weigh the wearer down excessively while serving equally well as an additional layer under a jacket or as warm outerwear. Its trouble-free and easy maintenance makes fleece an indispensable part of outdoor and workwear—it is not afraid of dirt, and thanks to its specific structure, it is less susceptible to tearing or abrasion than other fabrics. The only things to remember are to wash it at low temperatures and avoid excessive spinning or drying, which will help prevent pilling or stretching. fraya.pl
