The tax return filing period is beginning. Ms Ewelina, Kuba’s mother: – As every year, I will gladly file PIT-37 returns for people who, for various reasons, do not do so themselves, in exchange for 1.5% of the tax or a donation towards our son’s therapy and treatment. Please get in touch – tel. 783 184 516.

The boy’s parents:

For four years, we have been fighting for a better life for our child. Kuba has autism, a neurodevelopmental disorder that makes him look like an average five-year-old, although he is very different from his peers.

Delayed speech development means that he does not speak spontaneously. He is not interested in contact with the outside world and cannot play in a way appropriate for his age. The lack of eye contact, although seemingly harmless, means that Jakub treats strangers as people he knows – he hugs unknown people and, worse still, will readily walk away with them.

Kuba cannot read a person’s intentions, which creates a number of serious risks.

They add:

He perceives the world from his own perspective and requires constant help regulating his behaviour. In moments of stress, overstimulation and nervous-system exhaustion, his reactions are uncontrollable; aggression towards us, his parents, therapists or himself means that our son is pushed even further to the margins by his surroundings as “the strange one”.

For people who understand autism spectrum disorders, a so-called meltdown is nothing extraordinary; however, to the outside world, such a child is labelled “naughty/spoiled”.

Besides autism spectrum disorders, Jakub struggles with multiple food and inhalant allergies requiring a specialist diet; he has early-childhood asthma and immune disorders.

Ms Ewelina and Mr Marcin:

Our son requires constant, expensive neurological speech therapy, sensory integration classes, physiotherapy, hand therapy, psychological support and Social Skills Training. In addition, he must remain under the constant care of a neurologist, psychiatrist, allergist and ophthalmologist.

As you can probably imagine, all of this takes place through private appointments. At present, the system provides our son with six hours of Early Child Development Support. Today, we can rely solely on therapy financed from our own funds and on the help of everyone who donated 1% of their tax to Kuba in 2022. A 45-minute session currently costs between PLN 120 and 140. Monthly therapy with travel costs, medicines and our child’s diet often exceeds PLN 5,000.

And they emphasise:

This year will be exceptionally difficult. Many people who have donated 1% of their tax until now will not pay tax at all this year, and therefore will not donate anything either. That is why every time you share this information is immensely important.

We kindly ask you: remember Kuba when completing your tax return, and tell your family and friends about him.

If any of you can display a poster or leaflets at your company, we can deliver them at any time – there are many ways to help, and we will be enormously grateful for every form of assistance.

The tax return period is a time when we can help without losing anything. Thank you in advance.
