The incident occurred on May 24 of last year on II Armii Wojska Polskiego Street in Bolesławiec. Jerzy K., the driver of an Opel Kadett, failed to adjust his speed to the road conditions and hit a road sign. The Opel’s passenger was injured in the accident, suffering broken nasal bones and injuries to the head and spine. The driver fled the scene.
As it turned out, K. was drunk at the time of the accident. He had a blood alcohol level of 2.1 per mille. The court sentenced him to one year in prison and imposed a five-year ban on driving all motor vehicles. The man must also pay compensation of PLN 1,000. Moreover, the ruling will be made public.
The judgment is final.
