Visual identity
Many new entrepreneurs focus on running their business, so they have no time to think about a logo, colour scheme or the entire visual identity of the company, which helps it stand out from the competition. A properly prepared company visual identity not only makes it possible to present the company’s goals, but also to refer to the industry in which it operates or stand out from the competition. It is important that the visual identity be consistent across different channels: social media, the website, catalogues, brochures and company materials.
The basic elements of a visual identity system are:
- Logo or logotype
- Identification system, e.g. iconography
- Colour scheme
- Visual Identity Guidelines
Google Business Profile
Another very important element of a new business that we often forget is creating a so-called Google Business Profile. It allows people to quickly find the company, information such as its opening hours, photos or customer reviews. In addition, a properly prepared profile can serve as excellent advertising or a free way of reaching new customers.
Creating social media profiles
Even if you are not planning to start communicating on Instagram or Facebook right now, it is worth creating professional profiles for your company there. First, so that you can claim the username and URL ending, and second, so that your customers can tag the company in their posts or stories. Social media are an inseparable part of today’s world, so it is worth looking for potential customers there and enabling them to interact with the company on these platforms.
Taking care of a professional website
A company website is our business card. It should not only be attractive and consistent with the brand’s visual identity, but also contain all the necessary information about the company. We should include contact details, a description of the services we offer and even the forms of payment we accept, such as the option to pay by card. It is worth commissioning its creation to a specialist who will produce it professionally. A well-prepared website will not only be very good advertising, but will not require us to update it additionally.
Starting your first business
The independence provided by having your own business also entails considerable risk and requires courage when making strategic decisions. Right from the beginning of the business, a newly established entrepreneur faces many challenges that must be overcome in order to get started. That is why, amid the multitude of important matters to handle at ZUS, the bank or an accounting office, we may forget a few basic ones that will make later communication with customers easier.
