A chimney fire broke out in Wykroty in the morning. However, the situation was dangerous enough that firefighting operations required a greater-than-usual commitment of personnel and equipment. The operation lasted more than two hours.
OSP Nowogrodziec describes the firefighting operation in Wykroty on its Facebook profile: OSP Nowogrodziec:
Alarm! At 8:30 a.m., we were dispatched to a chimney fire in Wykroty. Local units were already operating at the scene. To extinguish the hot spots, we used a newly acquired chimney lance, directing water straight into the chimney flue. Unfortunately, this did not produce the expected result. To eliminate the danger, a rotary hammer was used to make holes through which water was directed straight at the hot spots. The temperature of the chimney near the ceiling beams reached 150°C—a straightforward recipe for losing all your belongings. The damage was limited to several holes in the chimney. Let us remember to regularly remove soot from chimney walls! Operations lasted more than two hours.
