The first round of the presidential election was a test of the quality of our survey results. A month and a half ago, we changed the voting system, and surveys and rankings are now protected against fraud. The difference between a survey and a ranking is the possibility of voting multiple times. In a survey, we can cast a vote only once; in a ranking, we can vote every day. After improving the system, however, we wondered whether the votes cast by our readers would correspond to the actual distribution of opinions in society. It turns out that they do. While just a few years ago the results of online polls presented a heavily distorted picture of people’s true views, they are now highly reliable. The margin of error is small—at most a few percent.

According to our survey, Bronisław Komorowski should have received 48% of the vote. He received 50% in Bolesławiec (47% in the county). Jarosław Kaczyński was expected to receive 24%, while he received 26% in Bolesławiec (29% in the county). Grzegorz Napieralski, according to our survey, was expected to receive 16%, and that is exactly what he received in both the city and the county.

The election results please us above all because they confirm the high quality of our surveys and show that the opinions of our readers are representative—in other words, that they correspond to the opinions of the entire population of the city and Bolesławiec County.

We already encourage you to take part in the next election poll.
