In the early hours of October 2, the police received a call about a man who was bleeding heavily from a cut forearm in the stairwell of one of the buildings on Jana Pawła II Street in Bolesławiec. When they arrived, it turned out that he had suffered serious injuries to his hand. An ambulance was immediately called, and it took the man to hospital.

The hospital discharge report states that, as a result of falling onto a washbasin, the man suffered an injury to the median nerve (complete severing), complete severing of the ulnar nerve, and severing of the ulnar artery. The injuries sustained in the fall are so serious that the man is facing surgery in Wrocław.

“I was cleaning the apartment after my mother’s death,” the man says about his accident. “Water had leaked from the washing machine. When I went into the bathroom to change the water after washing, I slipped on the wet floor. I hit the washbasin with my hands; it broke, and ceramic pieces pierced my hand, cutting it all the way through,” the man recounts the unfortunate accident.

With such a serious wound, from which blood was spurting from the severed artery, the man ran out into the stairwell to seek help.

“I knocked on every door so that someone would help me,” the man says. “But no one wanted to open the door because people thought I had gone crazy. Finally, one woman opened her door and called an ambulance,” the man concludes.

The residents of the building concluded that they were dealing with a suicide attempt, and they passed that information on to our editorial office. The man strongly denied this. He does not want to be perceived as suicidal. On October 7, he is going to Wrocław for hand surgery.

People who would like to support the man during his rehabilitation will be able to do so in the future through a special fundraiser. We will inform you about it.
