In June, the unemployment rate in Bolesławiec County was 3.7%, compared with 4.4% in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship and 4.9% nationwide. As a county, we outperformed counties such as Lubin (3.9%), Polkowice (4%), and Zgorzelec (5%), as well as the city of Legnica (5.2%). Only the city of Wrocław (1.5%), Wrocław County (1.6%), and the city of Jelenia Góra (3.5%) ranked ahead of us. In Bolesławiec itself, there were 502 registered unemployed people in June.

“This is a great joy,” comments Piotr Roman on the low unemployment rate in the county. “Especially at a time when we can see that a crisis is rapidly approaching, there is inflation and rising prices, while entrepreneurs are talking about increasing labor costs and our ceramic producers are receiving new, higher energy bills. This low unemployment is the result of many years of work by all the mayors and commune heads. There is the rural commune where Panattoni is being built. Gromadka, with its industrial zone—we hope no one will damage it—we have Bolesławiec County, which is friendly to entrepreneurs, and Nowogrodziec with its zone in Wykrotach. We have one great advantage: we do not have a monoculture, meaning a single plant whose difficulties during a crisis could lead to several thousand people being laid off. Our structure is diversified, giving us a chance that this crisis will affect us more mildly. There is also a chance that demand for labor may result in higher wages. It is clear that when you are looking for workers, you have to pay them more,” says the mayor.
