For several days, the pink bird has been visible on the roof of a building by the municipal pond in Bolesławiec. Because of its unusual pink color, the pigeon is attracting the interest and surprise of passersby. People shake their heads. Some ask whether it is an exotic bird and where it came from.
The pink pigeon from the pond in Bolesławiec is most likely a homing pigeon that was painted pink with special aerosol paint. Before releasing a pigeon, some breeders paint it with a color whose intense hue scares away predators, such as hawks.
Usually, the wings or tail are painted. In the case of the pigeon in question, someone apparently went too far and painted the entire bird. Manufacturers of the special paint assure that it will come off the feathers after about six months.
