The little boy did not speak and was not particularly frightened. When asked where his parents were or where he lived, he remained silent. Apparently, someone helped him cross the street while he was riding his bike. That was how he ended up at the retail park.
The women from one of the stores took him inside and notified the police. It turned out that residents of one of the houses on Gdańska Street had already been looking for the boy for nearly an hour.
– It started when the child was playing in the sandbox – a neighbor from Gdańska Street recounts. – His mother noticed that he was missing and then began looking for the boy everywhere. She got into the car and started searching. Everyone began looking for him in a frenzy, and I thought: I’ll call the police; perhaps someone has found the child. I described what he was wearing. My friend and I continued searching; we were in the park near the old police station. You hear so much these days about abductions. Then I received a call from the police saying that the child was at the retail park – the neighbor recounts.
The boy’s mother, who came to the retail park to collect him, was questioned by the police. The boy’s name is Mikołaj and he is ill; he does not speak and therefore could not say where he lived or how to contact his parents.
– Please write that mothers should watch their children very carefully – asked the neighbor who reported Mikołaj’s disappearance to the police.
The neighbors of the little runaway also came to the store at the retail park with their children, who were very curious about what had happened and about the police officers handling the case. The officers behaved very professionally and were very kind to the children. When one of the little ones wanted to see what a police car looked like inside, an officer kindly invited him to sit in the front seat.
We owe the happy resolution of the disappearance to the sensible and caring ladies from PEPCO at the retail park near the PKS bus station, as well as to the good sense of the neighbor who notified the police.
