The familiar image of the Virgin Mary in a stamp-patterned headscarf and matching dress makes a strong impression. Bolesławiec stamps remind people of a cup of milk and warm bread with butter. They remind them of their mother.
The artist’s Instagram page says:
“Borys’s Madonna left her icon so she could change from golden damasks into an ordinary navy-blue dress. She chose one with the familiar, close-to-home folk motif of Bolesławiec ceramics.”
“The work arrived here today. Everyone was delighted with it. It is very solid, painted on a thick board,” says Anita Wolszczak-Karasiewicz from the Art in House Auction House.
