On April 24 and 25, the International Polish Muay Thai Championships were held in Kraków. A total of 117 athletes competed in the tournament. Over two days, 94 bouts were held. Bolesławiecki Klub Muay Thai was represented by: Paweł Sawicki, Wojciech Hankiewicz, Mateusz Golsztajn and Dominik Zadora, accompanied by coaches Grzegorz Nazar, Tomasz Zadora and Krzysztof Brzymowski, the head of BKMT.
Paweł Sawicki, who competed in the up-to-75 kg category, faced a much more experienced opponent, Przemysław Goss of Klub Sportowy Corio in Łódź. After a hard-fought bout, Paweł had to acknowledge the Łódź fighter’s superiority.
Dominik Zadora first faced Tomasz Koźmiński of UKS Batory. The Bolesławiec fighter controlled the bout throughout and was declared the winner.
In the bout for advancement to the semifinals, Wojciech Hankiewicz faced Mateusz Pochylski, representing Łomiankowski Klub Sportów Walki Kobra. Mateusz apparently was not well prepared for the tournament. From the very first seconds of the bout, he used illegal techniques, which led to his disqualification. Injured, Wojciech had to withdraw from the championships.
Dominik Zadora’s next bout was against Kamil Kudrewicz, representing Klub Sportowy Target in Niepołomice. The Bolesławiec fighter gave his opponent no chance and ended the bout in the first minute of the first round.
Mateusz Golsztajn (junior, -54 kg), because there were not enough competitors in his weight class, competed in the higher -57 kg category. Despite the weight difference, Mateusz dispatched larger opponents without mercy. From the very beginning, the BKMT representative set a very fast pace. He performed highly effective combinations and advanced to the final.
On the second day of the championships, Dominik Zadora faced Damian Kachniarz from Piekary Śląskie. The bout ended after three rounds with a decisive victory for the Bolesławiec fighter.
In the final, Mateusz Golsztajn faced Dawid Bebiołka from Piekary Śląskie. Mateusz dictated the course of the bout, which ended after three rounds with a victory for the Bolesławiec fighter. Thus, the BKMT athlete won the Polish championship title in the up-to-57 kg category.
Dominik Zadora, meanwhile, faced Filip Gałuszka from Warsaw, the winner of the K1 European Cup. Dominik once again proved that he has no equal. With powerful kicks to the thighs in the first round, he twice forced the referee to count Filip. The second round followed a similar pattern. The Warsaw fighter’s coach threw in the towel, submitting him. Thus, Dominik Zadora became the Polish muay thai champion for the third consecutive time.
In the team standings, Bolesławiecki Klub Muay Thai took an excellent third place. On this occasion, club president Krzysztof Brzymowski received a cup from the Thai ambassador.
